Journalism as a profession is gaining ground these days. The print media especially newspapers are getting a strong footing in the country. Newspapers are also considered as the ears and eyes of any nation, society and institution. It is a greater treasure to the masses especially students than an uncounted millions of diamonds. The monthly newspaper of Department of Communication & Media Studies Hazara University, “The Campus Observer“ is there for the students who want to pursue career and have passion in the field of print media. The faculty and students of the university and Media Studies Department share their ideas, views and news through articles and columns which are quite fruitful for the readers. The Campus Observer is bilingual. It encompasses eight pages, the first six pages are dedicated to English material and last two are to Urdu inscription. The male and female students of the department who are working as reporters gather news from different events like seminars, workshops, meetings, celebrations etc. They also write as well as collect articles on various topics like science, information technology, media, education and many more from varsity students and staff. The student reporters take interviews of university staff as role models for the students. The editing process is done in the newsroom of the department where they make news-stories and arrange articles & columns and translate materials in the newsroom. They design pages of the newspaper and after this process, editing is done under the supervision of editor and editor-in-chief. At last stage the newspaper is sent to printing process.
