Dr. Alia Gul Lecturer Department of Botany achieved the IFS International Foundation for science grant 2018. The budget approved for this grant is USD 12,000. She did her PhD in Pteridophytes Systematics and Conservation and documented the endangerment of these plants for the first time in Pakistan. It must be remembered that not only she is the first ever PhD on Pteridophytes but got also the first pteridophytes international project titled" Bioguided Phytochemical Screening and Nutritional Asessment of Selected Ferns from District Mansehra". With the help of IFS grant she will conduct positive and controlled experiments to concentrate on locally (Indigenous) available ferns and characterize their compounds against drastic bacterial strains causing life threatening diseases in humans. The Cryptogamic Laboratory of Botany Department will be upgraded to conduct quality research and facilitate MPhil and PhD research with the help of this project. Department of Botany Hazara University is one of the leading department conducting research on Cryptogames of Pkistan which was neglected in the country. Dr. Alia Gul is determined to conduct research and to write the Pteridophytes Flora of Pakistan.
