M.Sc Economics

The M.Sc Economics is a two-year program. The program targets students seeking further education and enhanced training in economics. The program aims at ensuring that students acquire in-depth subject knowledge and relevant skills to successfully pursue careers in a variety of sectors. The program consists of 68 credit hours. In the first year you take compulsory courses on economic theory, mathematics and statistics, and have the opportunity to take some optional courses, whereas in your second year you will take compulsory core courses in microeconomics, macroeconomics and econometrics along with a research project which enables our students to apply the quantitative tools learnt in the program to real world economic and social problems. Our each course is mainly based on a lecture series, wherein you will learn how to put economic models together, how to undertake quantitative analysis, and, potentially, formulate your own model to address a new problem. It is anticipated that upon the successful completion of the programme, our graduates will have a sound knowledge of most of the economics related issues and the ability to apply their knowledge in terms of policy analysis and strategy formulation.

The medium of instruction at our department is English for all degree programmes offered. Assessments are accepted in English only. Assessment takes two forms. Firstly, during semester monitoring of your work in a particular course provides feedback aimed at improving your understanding and technique. Secondly, unseen written examinations at the end of each semester assess your learning and achievement and contribute towards your final degree.
