MPHIL BIOCHEMISTRY

The mission of our Postgraduate graduate programs is to enhance the biochemistry knowledge of the students. This is done through lectures and by assigning them assignments and presentation on latest topics. Such activities will also enable the students to design their MPhil research project and work on them confidently.

Educational/Program Objectives
The objectives of the postgraduate program in the field of biochemistry are to promote students both professionally and intellectually. After getting the degrees they will be capable to:

  1. Pursue PhD in reputable national or international institutions.
  2. Compete for the jobs in different organizations and secure relevant job on merit and later on adjust in their relevant field without any professional hurdles.
  3. To face any type of challenges in the work environment without any stress while obeying ethical code of conduct.
  4. Contribute in the growth of national economy by effectively utilizing their professional skills.

Admission Criteria and Eligibility
The process of admission is well established and followed as per the rules and criteria set by HEC and the University.
Candidates applying for admission on open merit seats must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  1. BS or M.Sc in Biochemistry/ pharmacy or Equivalent
  2. Second Division or at least 45% marks in intermediate.
  3. Entry Test
  4. Interview
Merit of candidates is determined according to the following criteria:
  • 50% weightage in Academic Performance.
  • 50% weightage in Entry Test
  • Provisionally selected candidates are interviewed.
  • Selected candidates are required to complete the admission formalities after displaying the Final Merit List.

Courses
The courses taught in the department are recommended by the Board of Studies and Academic Council, which are approved by the Syndicate. Any change in the course may be initiated only by the Department offering the course and pass through the same approval process. In case the course title or credit hours are changed, a new course number is allocated in order to avoid confusion with the previous course. Details of the courses are available to students in the Departments. The department offers a number of core and elective courses to focus on both the theoretical and practical aspects of the subject.
