Lecture on "Pontintional on Tourism in and around Lahore" by Prof. Rizwan Azeem at CHTM department, Hazara University The Department of Cultural Heritage & Tourism Management arranged a lecture for the visiting eminent scholar & researcher Mr. Rizwan Azeem, Ex. Director Planning & Works Department, Govt. of Punjab Lahore. All the students and faculty of the department attended the lecture. He spoke at length about the potential of tourism in and around Lahore with the help of multimedia. The thought absorbing lecture was attended with wrapt attention by all the audience. The worthy professor traced the rich cultural heritage of the city that had preserved the valuable marks of the bygone civilizations imparting a very charming outlook to the walled city. Lahore has been the source of inspiration and enlightenment for the tourist where the beautiful architectural work of the Mughal period, Sikhs and the British. The city boasts of great monument including museums, mosques, temples, shrines and gardens. The visitors from all over the world flock to this oldest city of Pakistan to enjoy and learn from the lost glory of different period. Lahore is quite famous for variety of tasty foods, hotel industry, decent and civilized people, famous educational institutions and rich libraries. The city of Lahore had the honour of inspiration from the great poets like Allama Muhammad Iqbal, Faiz Ahmad Faiz and many other outstanding literary figures that moulded the course of events over the centuries. Later on, students were divided into various groups to highlight the salient features of the lecture and come up with their personal views about the tourism potential in NWFP. The students expressed their views on the topic in a very befitting way. They highlighted the importance of frontier as a bastion of oldest civilization of the world where the tourist potential is unique throughout the world. The hospitality of the frontier people is well known all over the world. It is need of the hour to project the rich heritage of NWFP for the awareness of the world so that the tourist and the scholars across the world could come here and share our rich cultural heritage..
