        Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Saeed Anwar opens the inaugural session of a weeklong training workshop in Radio Journalism arranged by the Department of Journalism & Mass Communication (JMC) in collaboration with Internews Pakistan on Monday.

        Speaking on the occasion the Vice Chancellor welcomed the Internews team at the University and lauded their generous support which Internews extended in form of technical support and equipments. He said that practical training is pre-requisite for the students of professional fields like Journalism which in turn enables the students to cope with the market challenges after completion of their studies.

        Aurangzeb Khan, Media Manager, Internews briefly introduced his organization and said that Internews is working for the promotion of free media in 44 countries the world over.

        He said that Internews arranges capacity building trainings for journalists in Pakistan besides it has helped in establishing FM radio stations in a number of public sector universities of the country. He reaffirmed that Internews will extend every possible support in establishing Campus Radio station at Hazara University which will provide opportunity to the students of Journalism & Mass Communication department to have a good hand on the state of the art technology in the field of radio journalism. He added that besides serving as a training academy for the students of JMC the Campus radio station will cater to the needs of all the students and faculty members as it will cover both curricular and extra curricular activities taking place on the campus and will give voice to the community living within the coverage area of the radio station by highlighting their problems.

        The weeklong training which commenced on Monday at JMC deptt will remain continue till Friday is aimed to train the faculty and students of JMC deptt in Radio Journalism. Mohammad Noman Khan, Technical Coordinator/trainer, Internews is imparting training in technical side. The makeshift studio installed at the department will later on will be shifted the building reserved for the Campus Radio as soon it gets ready for use.
