School of Law Hazara University receives FOSI grant for establishing Law Clinic
Foundation Open Society Initiative has awarded grant to the School of Law Hazara University for the establishment of Law Clinic. The Clinic which will be established at the School of Law, Hazara University, will facilitate the University Administration as well as employees (BPS 1 to 16) during the legal proceedings regarding their services, inter-se. That being a newly made university the terms and conditions of service has not been fully established and numerous issues in this regard for legal advice and counseling has already been sought from the School of Law, University, Mansehra. Secondly, the clinic will help the local community of the adjoining areas who have been severely affected by the 2005 earthquake. In this context the legal clinic will help the community in drafting claims and petitions to the government as well as non-governmental agencies involved in the reconstruction and rehabilitation programmes.
Objectives
Legal clinic will train the students in drafting and counseling services. The students will also get good advocacy skills and specialized knowledge in service and labour laws as well as direct communication with government and non-governmental bodies will enhance their communication skills.
The university will be direct beneficiary as employees will get free of charge readily available legal services. The community being in distress will be helped enormously by drafting their claims and petitions in professional manner.
