UNESCO-Norwegian Funded Project
“Mapping of Cultural Assets in KPK ”
The Department of Archaeology, Hazara University, Mansehra has successfully accomplished its joint project titled “Mapping of Cultural Assets in KPK ” in collaboration with UNESCO, Islamabad, funded by the Norwegian Government. The Mapping activities were carried out in four districts i.e. Chitral, Mansehra, Peshawar and Mardan, of the Present Khyber Pukhtoon Khwa Province of Pakistan. The chief aim of the said project was to identify, document and map the rich cultural resources of the region through the latest technique (GIS Mapping). More than eight hundred cultural assets both tangible and intangible were documented and mapped during the process.
Department of Archaeology, Hazara University Mansehra is committed to continue the cultural mapping process in Hazara division and also in the process to upgrade the GIS database by incorporating more data.
