HAVELIAN CAMPUS

Introduction

The greatest pleasure in life is to do what people say impossible. The Havelian Campus was a dream, which came true. It is the result and fruit of the ceaseless efforts of the worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali. It is an appropriate and pertinent occasion to throw some light pertaining to the activities and the realistic ideas of the Vice Chancellor.

Havelian Campus

When he took over the charge as Vice Chancellor Hazara University, it was in a miserable condition. It was a deserted, barren and lifeless institution. But due to his untiring, sustained efforts and dedication, he not only changed the shape of the Hazara University but made it very attractive, fanciful and infused a new life in it.

Nature has showered immense blessings upon this part of the country in the shape of mountains, green thick forests, unpolluted atmosphere and above all abundant water, but the literacy rate is very low as compared to the other parts of this province.

Prof. Dr. Iqbal Shah, Coordinator

With selfless spirit and zeal, the Vice Chancellor not only improved the main campus but he took a bold step and established Havelian Campus in the available building, which was “Madrassa”. This double storied building was built on the land of University by an organization namely “Tanzeem-ul-Masajid” in 1992 to impart religious education to the destitute kids of this area. The Hazara University got it vacated and paid an amount of Rs. 7.2 million to the management of the “Madrassa” and converted this spacious building into the Havelian campus. The total land around this campus is about 1200 kanlas, which come to 150 Acre. Haveli means a huge mansion and if somebody put a glance on this hilly area, it really looks like a huge mansion.

The Campus is situated 12 km towards South West from Abbottabad and 21 km from Haripur to north which is easily accessible not only to the students of the surround areas but also given easy access to the students of Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi and Charsadda. The campus inaugurated on December 05, 2007 by the Vice Chancellor and regular classes of BBA, MBA and MA (English) were started in two tents with indigenous academic and administrative staff. Later on, it was formally inaugurated by Mr. Owais Ahmad Ghani, Governor NWFP / Chancellor Hazara University.

With the passage of time and under the dynamic guidance of the Vice Chancellor, this tiny institution will soon attain the status of a full-fledged university and will spread the light of education not only in this part but also to the whole country. This campus is a valuable contribution in the field of education. The aim and object is not only confined to impart education to the young generation but to improve the social and economic conditions of the people of the area. Quaid-i-Azam, the founder of Pakistan fought to create Pakistan where there would be no segregation among its citizens on the basis of cast, creed or language. Today this dream is being fulfilled by Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali by providing education at the doorstep to the residents of the area. The names of such personalities are always remembered by the nation with great pride and veneration.
